Hippos and Halloween
In this photo provided by Rome's Bioparco zoo, Mimi', left, and Carlo, two hippos in their thirties, approach carved pumpkins for Halloween, fed to them as a Halloween treat, Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008. Halloween, celebrated on Oct. 31, is believed to have its origins in an ancient Celtic festivity which celebrated the end of the harvest season and marked the boundary between the alive and the deceased. Halloween is also the eve of All Saint's Day, a Roman Catholic celebration.
